Ceruloplasmin is an acute phase protein and a transport protein for copper. The Ceruloplasmin test measures the level of the protein in the blood.
It is decreased in Wilson's disease, an autosomal recessive disorder.
Low levels of ceruloplasmin may also occur in Menkes syndrome which is a genetic defect in copper absorption.
